1. Images That Flash
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

Walk away from everything
Sick and tired of the things you do
You’re the pawn and I’m the king
That’s the game now I’m dong with you
I don’t care if I’m not the one
I realize now that this is overdue
The time has come for you to bite your tongue
Soon you’ll see just what I turned into

I know how hard this must be
You’ll never dream without me

Closed my eyes and still seeing
Waking up I’m still dreaming
Open up to all the images that flash before

Take away where I’ve been
I don’t need to be there again
Whose the fool that took you in
A drug of choice injected in the vain
I don’t mind being bitter now
A dream is crushed and then you wonder why
Reflect on your thoughts that you would never doubt
You’re the last deadly sin you’ll ever hear about

I know how hard this must be
You’ll never dream without me

Closed my eyes and still seeing
Waking up I’m still dreaming
Open up to all the images that flash before me
I’m alive and still breathing
On the edge of all feeling
Come to terms with all the images that flash before me

Awake
I’m wide awake in mind
Awake inside
I dream
So far away in time
Awake this time
A flash
I never felt so blind
What’s left behind
Lets burn
All of the bridges now
The images follow

Closed my eyes and still seeing
Waking up I’m still dreaming
Open up to all the images that flash before me
I’m alive and still breathing
On the edge of all feelling
Come to terms with all the images that flash before me

2. Still Remains
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

Everything remains the same
And it don’t matter
Why am I the one to blame
I won’t make things better
Everything you want
Everything you need
I’m the eyes and ears of everyone deceived
When black skies turn gray
That’ll be the day
Everyone will know what they all wished away

If you’re awake and breathing
Then you can hear me screaming
Break free of all these chains
And yet my strength still remains

Such a waste of time for me
And you’re not worth it
Know your so-called family
If you’re wrong then face it
All that’s in your mind
Not worth being said
It’s just better off it stays inside your head
All that you portray
Come whatever may
Everyone will know what they all wished away

If you’re awake and breathing
Then you can hear me screaming
Break free of all these chains
And yet my strength still remains

Can you hear me?
I’m still breathing
Are you with me?
Spread your feelings
Can you tell me what’s in your eyes?
Kill the rumors
Say your goodbyes

If you’re awake and breathing
Then you can hear me screaming
Break free of all these chains
And yet my strength still remains

If you’re awake and breathing
Then you can hear me screaming
Break free of all these chains
And yet my strength still remains

3. A Thousand Years
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

It almost feels like a thousand years
That I’ve been breaking down
Would it matter if I disappear
Yet I still stand my ground

I’m tearing away from
The things that I have become
Feels like it’s been so long
Since I seen right conquer wrong
And now I’m missing pieces of my past
And now I’ll write my ever-after

It almost feels like a thousand years
That I’ve been breaking down
Would it matter if I disappear
Yet I still stand my ground
What happened to all those days
It’s pure simple and plain
You pushed it so far away
It went straight out of your brain
It almost feels like a thousand years
And I’m still breaking down

All these words unspoken
This promise is unbroken
With all that I wishstand
The touch of death with this hand
So insecure when walking in the dark
Nocturnal eyes to see the fearless

It almost feels like a thousand years
That I’ve been breaking down
Would it matter if I disappear
Yet I still stand my ground
What happened to all those days
It’s pure simple and plain
You pushed it so far away
It went straight out of your brain
It almost feels like a thousand years
And I’m still breaking down

(It’s just been way far too long)

And I wonder why I never ran away
And yet now I disappear
I don’t really think I’m really sick that way
I’m a mental engineer

Open up your eyes I can tell you’re on your way
To a brand new promised land
I don’t really think that I really have to say
This is all that I could stand

It almost feels like a thousand years
That I’ve been breaking down
Would it matter if I disappear
Yet I still stand my ground
What happened to all those days
It’s pure simple and plain
You pushed it so far away
It went straight out of your brain
It almost feels like a thousand years
And I’m still breaking down

A thousand years

A thousand years

4. Know Your Place
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

Here I plan the perfect stand
Here I am back again
Why is this all I’ve known
Walking toward the unknown
I can’t tell you all the times
You would always cross my mind
I can’t be the perfect man
I won’t be back again

Know your place when I let you go
Walking away from all that I’ve ever known

Here I am alone again
I’m the same as I’ve been
Was it worth all the time
That you spent on the front line
I don’t need this reminder
That I thought I left behind
This is why i’m so numb
Everything I’ve come from

Know your place when I let you go
(Know your place when I let you go)
Walking away from all that I’ve ever known
A side of me that you’ll never know
(A side of me that you’ll never know)
Travel a path that was always in front of me

All your words are blistering now
Fake your way through this somehow
Is this all you hoped it would be
Don’t hold your breath for you and me

Know your place when I let you go
(Know your place when I let you go)
Walking away from all that I’ve ever known
A side of me that you’ll never know
(A side of me that you’ll never know)
Travel a path that was always in front of me

Know your place when I let you go
(Know your place when I let you go)
Walking away from all that I’ve ever known
A side of me that you’ll never know
(A side of me that you’ll never know)
Travel a path that was always in front of me

5. Why I’m Gone
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

I can’t open my eyes
It’s too hard to breathe
Got to try so hard
It’s time to believe
Couldn’t take the hits
Of lifes tragedy
Play the wild card
A shattered dream

And everything I know falls around me

I’m waking up
And giving in
I’m giving into everything around me

Waking up only to the night
I can’t find my way back home
I can’t ever give up on this fight
No one knows what it’s like when you’re
All alone, and something’s wrong
You find yourself where you don’t belong
Waking up only to the night
And now you wonder why I’m gone

Blinded by the light
There’s nothing to reveal
Take another chance
There’s nothing left to steal
Treasured by a kiss
Immortal being
Venom in your lips
Immune to the sting

The poison in your name is how you got me

I’m waking up
And giving in
I’m giving into everything around me

Waking up only to the night
I can’t find my way back home
I can’t ever give up on this fight
No one knows what it’s like when you’re
All alone, and something’s wrong
You find yourself where you don’t belong
Waking up only to the night
And now you wonder why I’m gone

Waking up!

I’m nothing
I’m everything
I’m nothing to you
But yet I’m everything
I’m nothing
I’m everything
I’m nothing to you
But yet I’m everything
I’m nothing
I’m everything
I’m nothing to you
But yet I’m everything
I’m nothing
I’m everything
I’m nothing to you
But yet I’m everything

Waking up only to the night
I can’t find my way back home
I can’t ever give up on this fight
No one knows what it’s like when you’re
All alone, and something’s wrong
You find yourself where you don’t belong
Waking up only to the night
And now you wonder why I’m gone

6. Down To None
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

Memories of everything you wanted
Things you never had to give away
I don’t want to take the time to listen
All the things you never got to say
Whoa (4x)
Just let go

And through everything unknown
There’s no need to come undone
I can do this on my own
Retribution has begun
Hardly breathing between screams
I know I’m not the only one
I was born with a thousand dreams
And now I’m counting down to none

Set up for a stage that unforgiving
You just got to get up off the ground
Something in my mind won’t seem to give in
To all the things that try to kick me down
Whoa (4x)
So unreal

And through everything unknown
There’s no need to come undone
I can do this on my own
Retribution has begun
Hardly breathing between screams
I know I’m not the only one
I was born with a thousand dreams
And now I’m counting down to none

Counting down to none
I’m counting down to none

I got to go
I got to run
I got to let it go when dreams don’t last
I still don’t know
If I’ll let go
A dream is only something of the past

I could never walk away if there’s something
There’s nothing
But never did I thought that I was nothing
I’m something

And through everything unknown
There’s no need to come undone
I can do this on my own
Retribution has begun
Hardly breathing between screams
I know I’m not the only one
I was born with a thousand dreams
And now I’m counting down to none

I can’t let go
And I was born with all these dreams
And now I’m counting down to none
I’m counting down to none

7. On The Rise
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now
C’mon, c’mopn
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now

Everyone’s moving through the crowd
Listen close, start moving to the sound
Get a fist up starting up a fist pump
Everybody’s rockin’, everybody’s getting down
Raise a hand up
Time to shake the room up
Let out a scream to get the world to start listening now
Throw your hands up
Raise another fan up
Jump up, rise up, get up
you know what’s going down

C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now
C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now
I can’t seem to let this be
No one knows what happened to me
C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now

Now that everybody started groovin’
Everybody get up and start movin’
We’re not gonna stop this course of action
Not until we feel that satisfaction
Throw a fist up
No, we’ll never give up
Let the sound pound until the walls are crumbling down
Throw your hands up
Raise another fan up
Jump up, rise up, get up
We’re never coming down

C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now
C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now
I can’t seem to let this be
No one knows what happened to me
C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now

Everybody get up
I wanna hear you scream
I wanna see you get up
We’re gonna rock this scene
You gotta jump with me
And I’ll jump with you
So we can see exactly what this place can do

Everybody get up
I wanna hear you scream
I wanna see you get up
We’re gonna rock this scene
You gotta jump with me
And I’ll jump with you
So we can see exactly what this place can do

C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now
C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now
I can’t seem to let this be
No one knows what happened to me
C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now

C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now
C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now
I can’t seem to let this be
No one knows what happened to me
C’mon, c’mon
Get up, get up
Everybody jump now
We are on the rise now

8. Chasing Dreams
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

I could spend my life staring at you
Cause I’m in love with all that you do
How long can this go on from afar
When I’m the one who knows who you are

Is this the night where all my dreams will come true
I didn’t know love until the night I met you

Everytime I close my eyes I can see
A life made for you and me
Every now and then I know what it means
Or am I just chasing dreams

Everytime I look in your eyes
I know there’s no place I’d rather be
Fly away with me through the skies
Then maybe you can dream with me

No need for words in this world I’ve made
I’ll just hold on until the moment we fade

Everytime I close my eyes I can see
A life made for you and me
Every now and then I know what it means
Or am I just chasing dreams

When I close my eyes everything’s alright, Oh
‘Cause somehow you made it with me tonight, Oh yeah yeah!

Everytime I close my eyes I can see
A life made for you and me
Every now and then I know what it means
Or am I just chasing dreams

(Chasing dreams! Oh, I’m chasing dreams, I’m chasing dreams!)

Everytime I close my eyes I can see
A life made for you and me
Every now and then I know what it means
(Or am I just chasing dreams)

9. Superstar
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

Don’t speak a word
I’m not listening now
I never meant to let you down
It doesn’t really matter to me
There’s some things that you can’t see
And now you’ll have to live your life
Live your life without me

Everything you say is straight out of line
And nothing seems to matter to me this time

Whenever I walk around
Something’s on my mind
Every time you close your eyes
You render yourself blind
I don’t need your sympathy
You just walked away
Superstar you had your chance
You threw it all away

Did I hurt you?
It doesn’t mean a thing
Because you never let me in
It doesn’t really matter to you
And everything we’ve been through
But now you’re losing all you thought
All you thought that you knew

Everything you say is straight out of line
And nothing seems to matter to me this time

Whenever I walk around
Something’s on my mind
Every time you close your eyes
You render yourself blind
I don’t need your sympathy
You just walked away
Superstar you had your chance
You threw it all away

Once upon a time
I felt so insecure
And one of these days of mine
Just wasn’t mine anymore
You’re so damn full of yourself
You’re not a superstar
And in the end I’ve learned
Just who the hell you are

Whenever I walk around
Something’s on my mind
Every time you close your eyes
You render yourself blind
I don’t need your sympathy
You just walked away
Superstar you had your chance
You threw it all away

Superstar you had your chance

Super star you had your chance
Now I can walk away

10. Open Your Mind
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

Open your minds and let me inside
The good and the bad will never coincide
I’ve opened my eyes to all the disarray
You can’t break me, You won’t break me
An open wound is bleeding on the floor
But I will survive, I’ll make it through the door
Ignoring the pain that had a hold on me
It won’t break me, It won’t break me

I’m standing tall and I’ll never fall
I won’t back down when I hit the ground
Never thought I’d see me getting back to me
In the end things always come around
Always have a choice just let ’em here your voice
Everyone caught in a passing glance
Burning in my heart I’ve only just begun
Then sit back and leave the rest to chance

Open your minds and let me inside
The good and the bad will never coincide
I’ve opened my eyes to all the disarray
You can’t break me, You won’t break me
An open wound is bleeding on the floor
But I will survive, I’ll make it through the door
Ignoring the pain that had a hold on me
It won’t break me, It won’t break me

Eternal flame flowing through my veins
Proving to the world that I’m alive
On a cloudy day it washed out all my pain
Born again to cultivated lies
Forgetting sympathy stand above it distantly
Open to the worlds I cast aside
Let go of what I’ve seen and everything it meant to me
I gave my heart but I still got my pride

Taking back the pieces of my life
Taking back the pieces of my pride (2x)

I don’t know if I care (If I care)
It’s not my pride
I don’t know if I can (If I can)
I’m trapped inside
I don’t know what I thought (What I thought)
That I would find
I don’t care what was lost (What was lost)
I’ve lost my mind

Open your minds and let me inside
The good and the bad will never coincide
I’ve opened my eyes to all the disarray
You can’t break me, You won’t break me
An open wound is bleeding on the floor
But I will survive, I’ll make it through the door
Ignoring the pain that had a hold on me
It won’t break me, It won’t break me

Open your minds and let me inside
The good and the bad will never coincide
I’ve opened my eyes to all the disarray
You can’t break me, You won’t break me
An open wound is bleeding on the floor
But I will survive, I’ll make it through the door
Ignoring the pain that had a hold on me
It won’t break me, It won’t break me

12. Legacy
Written & Composed by: Gary Kliegl
Performed by: The First Effect
Lyrics:

A boy five years old is hiding under the deck
His family over his head, never bothered to check
He cries to himself then comes out trying hard to restrain
twenty five years later, he still remembers the pain
Picked on for years all pain just swelled around in his chest
Nowhere to run, nowhere to turn to give emotion a rest
He’s trying to do his best to go on every single day
Ignoring the fact that all he wants is to get away
Walk out the door
Hope for the best
Be like the rest
Don’t like the test
Life is a chore
Head is a mess
Live with the stress
Left with regrets
Broken pieces of the words others said today
Awaken the dreamer to a world that he pushed away
A crush that he liked, didn’t like back
Her friends making fun of how he felt just gave him reason to crack
Tears ran down, pain so deep, found it harder to sleep
Just remember, if you’re ugly on the inside you’re nothing to keep

Here I am
Standing tall
And I’ll never forget those who moved along
Making me strong
here I am
I’ll go on
And I know where I belong, I’ll leave behind
A legacy
My legacy

Fast forward now to a time where he would question his life
So down, so depressed but he could never swallow the knife
Thinking of all the things that seems to lead up to the worst
Skipped a step, he’s breaking down inside, He should’ve felt numb first
It doesn’t matter now how he had to lie to cover the pain
With his best friend gone all he could do was take on all of the blame
No one will ever know what that tragedy was ever like
He’s shaken by the loss and now he’s crying so hard inside
He’s all alone
Can’t use the phone
Just can’t atone
Future unknown
Hurts to the bone
He’s on his own
Friends turn to stone
Pain finds its home
His best friend is flying with the angels so far away
Imagine all his so-called friends gave him hell to pay
So far away and didn’t turn back
He tries for something nice but only ends up with a smack
Every nice guy finishing last be he’s still on the floor
He’s forgotten, everyones favorite person they wanna ignore

Here I am
Standing tall
And I’ll never forget those who moved along
Making me strong
here I am
I’ll go on
And I know where I belong, I’ll leave behind
A legacy
My legacy

2003 I fell in love
She was my one and only
I had to move on with those quiet nights
It’s been so hard and lonely
She broke my heart I never could hide
Her lies that cut so deeply
I gave her my best I’d never have guessed
10 years went by so quickly
I had to wake up could hardly breathe
Everything sucked around me
Now I will fight, stand strong on my word
No one will ever stop me

Here I am
Standing tall
And I’ll never forget those who moved along
Making me strong
here I am
I’ll go on
And I know where I belong, I’ll leave behind
A legacy
My legacy

Here I am
Standing tall
And I’ll never forget those who moved along
Making me strong
here I am
I’ll go on
And I know where I belong, I’ll leave behind
A legacy
My legacy
